Came across this tribe and it jolted me right back in time. I lived in Cologne '72 - '79 and worked in a cafe across the street from Holger Czukay's home/studio. The guys used to pop in almost daily. Both my boss and my roommate were fighting over Jaki Liebezeit for years - not that he cared, as long as he got them into bed - and I used to have long philosophical conversations with Holger over enormous cups of hot chocolate. Sometimes we'd hang out in the studio on stoned afternoons and evenings - Ah, those were the days, I'm getting old. Anyway, I think it's great that you guys and gals are into their music and have this tribe. Hello!

CAN Remastered

Has anyone picked up any of these new CDs? I wonder if it's worth it? From the website (http://www.spoonrecords.com/news.html)...

Spoon Records, in collaboration with Warner Music for Germany/Austria/Switzerland and Mute/EMI Records London for the rest of the world, is releasing remastered versions of the classic CAN albums. All remastered 14 albums will play on CD players, SACD players and SACD compatible DVD players and will include exclusive unseen photos from the time and new sleeve notes.

The release of the first four albums Monster Movie, Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi and Soundtracks on is scheduled for October 2004. The release of the rest of the catalogue is scheduled for 2005 and 2006.

The albums were all remastered from the original master tapes and were overseen and attended by Holger, Irmin and Jono Podmore, so that they finally sounded on CD how they were always intended to sound. These releases follow the recent success of the DVD release, CAN DVD, which marked the 35th anniversary of the founding of the group.

So who's your favorite CAN singer? I think Malcolm is underrated and had some great moments but to me CAN would not be CAN without Damo.
